Theo Mastio
I am an East Coast-based polymath. I work in a variety of fields, including cultural anthropology, theatre & film, social services, education, and politics. My work ranges from serving as a Tobacco Committee Board member for the Iowa Department of Public Health & Iowa Students Tobacco Education and Prevention to smaller-scale projects, such as my short film series, “The Gourdons”. I am committed to finding effective solutions in all areas of my studies.
“Dialogue further requires an intense faith in humankind, faith in the power to make and remake, to create and recreate, faith in their vocation to be more fully human (which is a privilege of an elite, but the birthright of all)” – Paulo Freire
I am a fourth-year student at VCU, majoring in anthropology. I will get my Bachelor of Science in December 2026.

Jalyn Thomas
I’m a 2026 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University with a dual degree in media production and public relations. During my time at VCU, I competed in the 2026 Bateman Case Study Competition as the copywriter, acted as the director of cinematography for one documentary and the press coordinator for another, and wrote for the award-winning student-run newspaper Commonwealth Times.
I am passionate about storytelling, be it through writing, filming, or editing. I enjoy collaborative as well as independent work. During my time as a student, I have developed and refined skills such as brand creation and promotion, videography and editing, and social media management.
I am excited to connect. Let’s create something amazing together.
